It is important to consider the specific needs of your body when selecting which nutrients to consume.  Zen~Yum offers several different options for meal selections to enhance your quality of life as well as your overall Zen~Yum experience.  You may not be familiar with some of the options listed on the site, so we've included a helpful directory to ensure you are choosing the most holistically beneficial food for your body! 

What is gluten?

"Gluten is a general name for the proteins found in wheat (wheatberries, durum, emmer, semolina, spelt, farina, farro, graham, KAMUT® khorasan wheat and einkorn), rye, barley and triticale – a cross between wheat and rye. Gluten helps foods maintain their shape, acting as a glue that holds food together. Still curious?

Seek out naturally gluten-free food groups!

The Celiac's Disease website has a great list of recommended foods here.   These food groups include but are not limited to:

Fruits, Vegetables, Meat and Poultry, Fish and Seafood, Dairy

Beans, Legumes, and Nuts.

"Gluten-free" is not a diet

People often think being "gluten-free" is a diet and avoid foods with gluten in them at an attempt to lose weight.  Rather, gluten-free options are for those who have gluten sensitivities and/or reactions to consumption of proteins found in wheat.

Vegetarian vs. Vegan: What's the difference?

  • Vegans do not consume any animal products. 
  • Vegetarians don't consume animals, but may eat products that come from them (such as eggs or milk). Additionally, there are different types of vegetarianism.  To read about them, click here.

Hot,, Iced, or Frozen?

Did you know the best way to drink water is actually at room temperature? Water between 50-75 degrees Fahrenheit is best suited for consumption because it allows the body to hydrate faster.
